Sonia James is an experienced writer and producer for radio, television and the web, and a content developer well versed in e-learning and multimedia.

As the former executive director of the National Audio Theatre Festivals, she coordinated panels, performers and received grants for a national, weeklong workshop, culminating in a live stage performance and radio broadcast.

If it pertains to broadcast, Sonia has done it - on-air hosting and announcing, sound design, continuity direction, master control operations, and program management, as well as staff development and supervision. She's worked in both the field and studio, from local talk shows to sporting events and themed specials.

She has taught radio writing, production and editing skills to college students, and helped establish two television stations and one radio station, as well as joining as one of the principals in the Curious Echo Radio Theater, producing audio drama for the stage and digital market.

Sonia also served as a full-time project manager and senior instructional designer for LearnSomething, Inc. and Conduent LLC. Several Fortune 500 businesses seeking regulatory compliance have used e-learning materials (audio, video, and web) designed and managed by her teams. She then transitioned to the academic world, as the Program Coordinator for the Online and Professional Development department of Tallahassee Community College’s Division of Workforce Development.

Currently, Sonia’s company Pyrobyrd Creative creates educational materials focused on multicultural histories, speculative genre arts, and soft skills. Additionally it assists authors and artists in promoting their works, using skills perfected working with best-selling author A.C. Crispin.

Sonia is back in broadcasting as a panelist on the Discussions from the OTHERhood and the Capitalism for Progressivism podcasts.
